My friend and I love track and cross country, so we started a free running club for kids around middle school age to introduce them to running, teach them how to train, race, and help them get faster while having fun with their friends. If we had someone to introduce us into track and cross country not only would we be faster, but that first few weeks would have been much less intimidating. By creating this club we aim to introduce new runners to the sport, help them become faster before high school track, and also benefit our team. Our running club will give new runners a much better starting point when they start high school cross country. We hope to see you over the summer!
I, Owen Reece, and my friend Jack Salene are creating this club, I am a sophomore currently and Jack is a junior. We have both been in track and cross country since our freshman year. last year we both went to regional championships for cross country and track. My main event is the 1600m (one mile) where I ran a 4:27 as a freshman placing me 3rd in the state for freshman, I also ran the 800, and 3200. Jack’s main event is the 800, where he split 2:08 at regionals during the 4x800, Jack also runs the 3200 and 1600. We both know a ton about training, and racing and would love to have the opportunity to help train the next generation of topsail track athletes. Also if you would like to check our Milesplit accounts they will be linked in the "More About Us" page.
The running club will take place during the summer when school is not in session. What days we host the club, and the time of day will depend on what works better for you, and what you fill out in the survey.
